Our version of Nando's :)

I can't help but smile whenever I see these photos of the food that we had in Nando's. These were taken when my hubby and I were still going out. We also love to explore fancy restaurants but of course, we are simple people and we aren't picky when it comes to food! So recalling the time when we met at Chatswood and I was famished, I asked hubby to take me somewhere that I haven't been before. He suggested that we go to Nando's but first, we have to buy plain rice from an Asian store in the food court because he doesn't like the rice that is served there. So yeh, we ended up buying 2 containers which is 3$ each (very pricey when you convert it to Phil Peso... LOL)

Before ordering, he warned me that the Peri Peri sauce is extremely hot. I also like food that are 'kinda' spicy... (depends on one's definition of spicy) But Nando's have different levels of 'spiciness' so he asked me again and again until I told him to just order what he likes. Of course he ordered the 'hot' one and I didn't complain. When the food came, it was served with chips and coleslaw... The best part was when I was dying to have a bite so I took a big piece of chicken with my hands and quickly shoved it into my mouth... When it came in contact with my tongue for a few seconds, it was okay but after a few minutes, I started feeling this eerie sensation building up inside me especially when I swallowed the meat. It was soooooo HOT!!! Whew! And again, I'm not exaggerating. Good thing there was bottled water right in front of me to extinguish the fire inside my mouth!

In fairness, I like the food though it made me sweat a lot and cry a little bit. I also want to say that the first time I went here was unforgettable because this is where I got another 'confirmation' from God that my boyfriend will become my hubby... (details will be shared on my other blog) So it's also a nice reason to celebrate and be merry... hi hi hi... I also like the design of their plates, as you can see below that the word 'love' is written on it ;-) The design of the menu is also eye-catching but unfortunately I lost the photo and would have to take another one when we go back there again. I also got inspired to post this because of my friend who recently built a blog about food which is the same as my one but the best part is her own recipes (that I don't have here) It's called The Harassed Mom's Food Journey which is an awesome site by the way because it already reached 10k views - good on you Ten! :)

Guylian ~ Best Belgian Chocolate I've ever tasted!

Hi friends... First of all, I wanna say that I can't believe I haven't posted here for almost 2 years! And because of that... I must make a good comeback by posting something really worth your time... Hmmm... So what's new anyway, you may ask? EVERYTHING! A lot of things has changed since I last updated Mouthwatering Good Food blog. It's funny though coz I still feel like it's yesterday - or I just probably couldn't get over this time warp... (I moved to Sydney a year ago - thus the change of time zone and also got married early this year, YAY!) But enough of this blah blah blahs coz I need to share something really exciting! I have attached recent pictures below (and yeah, I think I still look the same 2-3 yrs ago but gained a lil weight because of spending too much time looking for good places to eat!)

My topic for today is something special because my hubby and I spent our 4th month here as a married couple. OK now let's get straight to the point...  Drum roll please........
It's Guylian Belgian Chocolate Cafe, Sydney!!!! Does it ring bell? Yeh, Nope? Well, let me do my job here, I'll describe to you how wonderful the food is in Guylian. Are you ready? I want you to close your eyes and imagine that you're going inside a place where there is nothing but yummy treats. As you enter the room, you could smell all the goodies around you - Belgian chocolates, exquisite cakes, various decadent desserts and coffee - this is definitely heaven! Then you ask yourself, you must be dreaming... You really want this to happen for real... Seriously, if you want this to come true, I'd say, visit Guylian so you know I'm telling the truth lol...

There are just three Guylians in Sydney CBD - there's one in The Rocks and also another one in Circular Quay. To those who live in Sydney, you can already tell that it's not very far. It's walking distance away. So if one is full and you don't want to wait, you check the other one because you just have to walk for 9 minutes to get to the other side. I've been to the one in Circular Quay 2 times now. The first time I went here was last year - had waffles with hot choc and definitely loved it! Second time is with my hubby (pics below). And oh, I almost forgot to mention the one at Darling Harbour - which was not listed on the website but thought you should know about that too.

If you love sweets, you'd be happy to know that there's a lot of them to choose from in Guylian. I didn't take pictures of the Belgian chocolates but if you want to have a look what's in store for you, you can visit the Cafe or visit their website. Price is actually affordable! You can walk out of the Cafe with a big smile on your face because you know that you have enjoyed great food and you were not 'ripped off' in any way. Well, I hope I have convinced you right now so next time you go out alone or with friends or family, go to Guylian Belgian Chocolate Cafe in Sydney and get ready to fill your mouth and tummy with awesome treats!

Ooooohhhh... I love you my warm latte...

Very happy food has arrived!

Meat pie is a very popular food here in Australia. I ordered creamy chicken pie. So YUM!

And this is the highlight of the evening! Waffle with choc and hazelnut ice cream. nom nom nom!

Who wants a piece of Mango Bravo?

Guess where this cake is from?

YEAH!!! You are so right! This gigantic towering cake is called Mango Bravo and you can only find it from a place that serves the most delicious pastries and other culinary treasures - CONTI'S!

This is the restaurant that popped in my head when I went to Manila to visit my friend. Since I've been hearing positive feedback from a lot of people about this cake, I decided I wanna give it a try. I was so happy to find out that it was really amazing! (It was also extra special because it was free - this was my friend's treat)

Too bad I was stuffed at that time so I was not able to try the steak and pasta. I also want to try the other cakes like the Mocha Torte and Black Velvet. I really love cakes and that's the reason why I am putting on extra pounds lately. Over indulging myself with good food is almost like a sin to me! Don't worry, I've been busy doing crunches and other exercises these past few days (that is to prepare for my next food trip and Christmas where we get to eat more food!)

I will definitely visit Conti's next time and my next order would be baked salmon and tofu steak... YUM YUM YUM!!!

ZONG!

Have you heard of this restaurant? The first time I saw this on Eton Centris, it kinda sound like hitting a gong or something. My friend told me they serve Singaporean food. Since I miss the stuff that I eat in Singapore, I immediately agreed to check out the place...

The ambiance was good, a nice place to have a chit chat and picture taking with family and friends. We ordered something called Hotpot of Eggplant, Chicken in Salted Egg Yolk, Deep Fried Salt and Pepper Pork Ribs and Yang Chow fried rice.

I was with my friend and her hubby (special mention to the sponsor of the food, thank you so much!) and that means it was just the three of us... Well, we didn't have a hard time eating because we were so famished! Don't get me wrong, it's not that we don't like the food, but we were on a diet and we were not supposed to eat too much at night BUT... the food is hard to resist...

When you go there, don't forget to invite your 'food trip' buddies and order everything that you like to try! I bet everything in their menu is great and you will never regret eating there... Oh, and if you are around Quezon City, try to visit Zong at Eton Centris Walk at night. It's excellent at night because you will get to see gigantic color changing mushrooms. Don't forget your camera!

Food Review #1 ~ CALLE DOS (Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija)

It's a new restaurant Located at Melanio's building, Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecjia. My brother described the food there as 'continental' - I almost agreed but when something is called 'continental' it only talks about dishes from various western European countries. Yes, Calle Dos has it in their menu but the food that is being served there is not only limited to that! They also have Asian food and mostly served with a 'twist'. Like for instance, they have all sorts of Maki flavors. The Maki is served the same way it is usually served in other restaurants but when you take a bite, you will discover a fusion of different flavors that is absolutely new to your taste buds!

We were actually there when the menu was being finalized because my brother and I were the official designers of Calle Dos. We were so honored because they trusted us and we did our best to make the graphic artworks look great. Anyway, back to the menu -- If you go there, you will notice that there are a lot of drinks to choose from. It's because they are originally a coffee shop and they eventually incorporated all sorts of delicious food in the menu. So when you decide to check it out, don't forget to order a frappe and pasta, cake and hot mocha, juice and pizza or whatever combination you wish, it will surely be a winner!
